Located in Columbia County, Florida, Fort White is a small town whose northern border touches the state of Georgia. Initially founded as an actual military fort in 1836, Fort White is rich in history and relies upon the Ichetucknee River as its largest tourist attraction. With a population of only a couple hundred people, this former military fort is home to many farmers, forest specialists, and nature lovers. The Rails to Trails Bike Path is a great way to get in a little exercise while soaking up sun and taking in Florida's visually stunning landscape. Whether cycling, walking, or horseback riding along these trails, visitors are able to experience the serenity of nature and the various creatures that live within these environments; Rails to Trails is a great draw to the area. The trail runs from Fort White to O'Leno State Park as well as going north through Branford to Little Springs State Park.
